Suction Corer samples the near seabed in ocean depths for geochemical, geological and geotechnical analysis
Svitzer Surveys has a patented a coring system for use in ocean depths. This system uses the suction anchor principle to embed itself in the seabed, collecting samples in the core tube in the process. Once full depth is achieved the pump is reversed and the corer rejects itself from the seabed and can be winched or floated to the sea surface.
If you have a coring project which needs assayable samples, mineral recovery or collection of significant volumes of material from the seabed we can customize the corer to suit your needs.
US Patent for seabed corer – Foley 2011
Applications for this scalable corer include piston coring at depth, minerals exploration and environmental surveys where conventional JPC or boxcorers are inadequate.
